Bay Area Community Counseling is focused on working with preteens, teens, and young adults. It is commonly known that this transition from being a child to being and adult is not an easy one.

When things get really hard, adolescents can develop depression and anxiety, which can lead to unhealthy means of coping (e.g., substance abuse, cutting, suicidal feelings, eating disorders) and it can also lead them to act out, becoming defiant at home, or having anger outbursts at school. It can be really scary when we see our children suffering, and not on the usual development path (e.g., socially isolated, struggling in school).

Adolescence is also a time of discovering who we are, what our values are, and how to be with others. This can create lots of confusion about what friends they want to hang out with, how they want to be in romantic relationships, and how they will deal with temptations such as drugs, alcohol, pornography, and/or rule breaking. Our therapists help parents to reinforce the work we're doing in session to create lasting change, and put our therapists out of a job. Contact us today to start getting help!
